You can do plenty of lunchtime magic by whipping up a delicious sandwich using even some basic ingredients you can find in your kitchen or pantry. Grilled Ham, Cheese, Pickle and Potato Chip Sandwich

Quick and easy to make, grilled ham and cheese sandwich is a classic example of something you can put together even with your eyes closed. Adding some pickles and potato chips makes the sandwich more interesting and less of the usual. The pickles add a touch of excitement while the potato chips give the sandwich some crunch.

All you need are two slices of sandwich bread spread with some Dijon mustard. The slices are then topped with some thinly sliced cheddar cheese, thinly sliced ham, a handful of salted potato chips and more cheese. The sandwich bread slices are assembled together then grilled in the sandwich maker in melted butter on both sides till the cheese is melted and the sandwich bread slices turn golden brown.

You can slice the sandwich in half for easy biting and chewing. The use of potato chips entails that the sandwich be served immediately so the chips can be enjoyed in full crunchiness.


Bacon, Egg and Cheese Bagel Sandwich

Always a fantastic breakfast staple, bagels can easily put the zing in sandwich making. To make a basic bagel sandwich using protein and calcium-filled ingredients, cut a small bagel in half. Preheat the sandwich maker before cutting the bagel so the machine is ready. Put the bottom half of the bread with the cut side up on the bottom ring of the sandwich maker. Top the bread with a slice of American cheese and two slices of precooked bacon. Top the assembly with a slightly scrambled egg then with the other half of the bagel, cut side down. Close the lid of the sandwich maker and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes.

Remove the cooked sandwich using a spatula.


Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Chicken Sandwich

Take some leftover grilled chicken and shred it into small bits. Cook the bacon over medium heat in a skillet, making sure the sides are browned evenly. Drain the cooked bacon on paper towels.

Preheat the sandwich maker. Grease the bottom plate with some butter. Put in one half of a sandwich bun, top with the chicken, bacon, lettuce, some grated cheddar cheese and some pickle slices. Top everything with the other half of the bun.

Close the lid of the sandwich maker and cook till the cheese melts or the buns turn golden brown, around 3 to 5 minutes Remove the sandwich with a spatula.


Basic Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Preheat the sandwich maker on medium heat. Butter one side of each bread slice. Once the ready light of the sandwich maker comes on, place one bread slice with the buttered side down on the bottom cooking plate, and top with a slice of American cheese. Add the other bread slice, buttered side up, to the rest of the sandwich and close the lid of the machine. Cook for about 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the sandwich with a spatula.

Brie, Grape and Avocado Sandwich

If you want a vegetarian sandwich, try this fantastic one for size.

Take one slice of seedy, whole grain bread. Spread whole grain mustard on one side. Take another slice of whole grain bread and spread some cream cheese on it. On the slice with mustard, add brie, some thinly sliced grapes, sliced avocado, a little maldon sea salt and top everything with the other bread slice spread with cream cheese. Cook the sandwich in the sandwich maker lightly greased with a bit of olive oil until the bread slices are lightly browned. Carefully remove from the machine using a spatula.


Egg, Ham and Cheese Muffin

Preheat the sandwich maker at medium setting. Put in the bottom half of an English muffin on the cooking plate. Top with a slice of American cheese and Canadian bacon. Add a lightly scrambled egg and top with the upper half of the English muffin. Cook for around 4 to 5 minutes. Remove the sandwich carefully using a spatula.


Reuben Sandwich

Preheat the sandwich maker. Take two slices of rye bread or pumpernickel. Spread some butter on one side of each of the two slices and some thousand island dressing on the other side. Put one slice, buttered side down on the sandwich maker when the ready light tells you the machine is ready. Top with a slice of Swiss cheese, cabbage/sauerkraut and some pre cooked slices of corned beef. Top with the other bread slice, buttered side up.
